Gametime Buddies Guitar for Wii

This guitar may not have a large installed base, but the HobbyCNC GH-05 Board will fit with only minor adjustments.

Thanks to Kevin R.

Thanks to Kevin R. for all these outstanding photos and working with me to identify the proper switch wiring and form factor that would be most likely to fit the Gametime Buddies Guitar.

Note:

The GH-12 board and the GH-05 board are physically and electrically identical. The GH12 will be discontinued when inventory is exhausted.

For your reference here is the ‘underside’ of the Gametime Buddies PC Board.

Thanks to this excellent photo, I was able to narrow it down to 5 boards that had the right circuitry and then down to one board that was the closest physically.

Modifying the GH-05

The only modification needed was to elongate the one mounting hole just a small bit.

Only modification required: making this one hole a little enlongated.

Installing the GH-05

I particularly like this image, because you can see the two Sharpie arrows drawn on the ribbon cables before removing the original board.

GH-12 installed. Notice the Sharpie marks on the ribbon cable.

Fret Spacing

The fret button spacing was almost perfect.

Fret Button Modification

As with all my boards, about 2-3 mm needs to be removed from the bottom of the fret button.
